DAY 9 - VALENTINE'S DAY CHALLENGE
DAY 9 - February 11, 2019
Despite the fact that Valentine’s Day is a super crappy holiday it does have an upside. One of my best friends was born on Valentine’s Day! If she makes it to Thursday she will be 90!
So, I had this super serious boyfriend and he said to me one day, “Do you know anyone in any of the penthouses? I would love to see the space and the views.” A few weeks later, I got on the elevator with a lady and her dog. She hit the top floor and I told her the story. She said call me and bring him up! We went up and saw her condo and then I would see her around the building. Out in the meadow hitting golf balls, and walking her dog.
I was diagnosed with cancer and the boyfriend couldn’t handle it. It was rough…I was crying one day on a bench and she came and sat with me. We slowly became friends.
She became my best friend in the building. We would go on adventures together. We would climb the fence and go pool hopping. We went ziplining. We would go on the swings that overlook the Ohio River, we went to a Red’s baseball game, learned to salsa dance on Fountain Square, went to a Downton Abbey tea at WCET, we took French lessons together, we went to get Dewey’s for pepperoni pizza and were regulars at Graeter’s for ice cream. Sadly, she is sick and doesn’t have a lot of time left, but I have such fond memories of my friend born on one of the worst holidays and so it can’t be too bad.
She told me that if it had not been for me she would not have done all those things, but the reality is…I wouldn’t have done all those things without her!
So, to my best bud and my Valentine’s Day friend…I hope you make 90 and beyond. Thanks for the friendship and the memories…
Catch ya later!
